Yarn Over Easy?
Apparently I have never had to do a yarn over while purling before, because I'm swatching for the gorgeous Estonian Lullaby Blanket and they just aren't there.

Here's how I perform this:

It seem to create a yarn over on the needle, but on the even row when I purl it, it basically disappears.
What gives?
I am in desperate like with this pattern. Help!

UFO walk of shame
Well, August is drawing near a steamy, seamy close. I still don't have a teaching job and am starting to look for a plan B. We will be moving at the end of the month but we don't know where. My days are long and unbroken, each one indistinguishable from the next. What better time to dig through our huge fiber chest to the deep underbelly of my WIPs? What follows may offend. These are ALL my current UFOs/WIPs/WTFs. Proceed with care.
1. Elegant Gauntlets from Sally Melville's The Purl Stitch. In Koigu. Mmmm, Koigu. Does anyone else think her new book on color looks somewhat atrocious? As if those asymmetrical hemlines weren't enough.
2. Crumpets in Cascade Pima Tencel. Cute, yummy yarn, but neverending stockinette skirt.
3. Kitty Pi, started just last week.
4. This sock has taken out a personal ad.
5. This is a funky Gefrida cotton that I decided would make weird marshmallowy halloween socks. But I'm a heel (phobe).
6. So beautiful, admittedly, but not really my colors. Malabrigo Merino in "Peach tree" with mohair and a classic elite novelty wool accents. Meant to be a square wrap.
7. Melon Blast! from Spring 2004 Knitters, two sleeve in Classic Elite Zelda, a thick-thin wool-linen blend. I actually cast on the body of this on Sunday, I would like a sweater for fall.
8. Zaftig from Knitty, second cup syndrome.
9. My first cable, a start of a Coronet in Lopi (*itch*)
10. No photo: Multidirectional scarf in Noro Kureyon 95. Very long, almost done. But where is it?
WTF #1: Lion Brand Homespun and a huge crochet hook. Leprechaun tit. Went into the charity bag with the remaining yarn.
WTF #2: I used to sell my crafts, and people love crap! This is a great example, a cat cell phone cozy in WoolEase, with one ear and no face. Into the trash.
WTF #3: One of the oldest WTFs, from 2003. Plymouth Alpaca Boucle and a matching skein of Crystal Palace Splash. Yardage issue, there's no way that would become a full scarf. There's no way I'd wear it, either. I don't know if it's the aging or what, but the Splash feel oily. Ew.
WTF #4: Einstein coat. Oh Sally Melville. Once again you tempted me with your self-congratulatory ways. This is what it looks like, 300+ rows of garter stitch in bulky yarn. Measuring tape for scale. I have SO much of this yarn (3000 yards?), which was sold as some kind of special edition Brown Sheep thang on ebay (Has brown sheep ever made a three-ply bulky?) Anyway, it's pretty nice wool, but...can't...stand..the...garter...I think I have a new project in mind for this yarn, stay tuned.
