We're here!

I have just dug myself out of a huge mountain of spam that has accumulated after leaving the blog unminded for a few months. Yikes. Do not ever put the word "Japanese" in your post title.
Hello, hello, all our dear loyal readers. We have not forgotten you, we just really have not been knitting until recently.
I'm sad to say that the job that I moved out here for did not work out. I am exploring my options right now and I hope to be back in the classroom soon.
Before I get to the modest knitting, here are some new things from our life in the desert:

Tessa, the kitten!
Scary!

Okay, we seriously have just dug out our knitting. We found a great, friendly little new shop in Tempe, Tempe Yarn and Fiber. They are cool with people dropping by any time to knit, but they have groups on Saturday and Tuesday nights. I am going to take a plying class there.

To get my feet wet, I started working on some squares for the Psychedelic Squares Afghan, which at this point, at 16 squares, could be a groovy throw pillow.

(Those are not random bags of trash, but clothes to donate, just so you don't judge me just when we're getting to know each other again). You can kind of see our new couch, which is my first grown up couch ever, my favorite of many new pieces of furnitures (we barely brought any), a buttery ultrasuede we got at a consignment shop.

My fingers hurt like hell. I've gone soft. I finished the "peas and carrots" square in the upper left corner, and now I'm working on this one, that I started when we got engaged (!) because it has the color of the stones in our rings. Geez. At this rate, perhaps we can give this afghan to our first grandchild.

Thanks to everyone again for the sweet congratulations about the wedding. The knitting will be slow for awhile, but I'll try to get Omar to make a post about what he's been doing and desert survival.

It's so wonderful to see your sweet face! Do I spy mashed sweet potatoes on that Thanksgiving table?

Glad to have you back! Love the new haircut and color!

Welcome back, it seems like you've been gone forever. I hope the settling in process is going well and you can find some time to knit again. it will surely sooth your nerves.

Glad to see you are still around and knitting and living. Sorry the job didn't work - you don't sound worried at all - good for you!

The balcony view is so green and pretty.
