a day in the life of a basket

We recently returned from a trip to the Midwest to visit family and friends, including the wedding of one of my close friends from high school. Remember the felted basket question?
Well, the time was upon us, and true to form, I had procrastinated down to the wire. Thankfully, when a crisis hits here at 2KTOG, there are two knitters to take care of it. This was taken in the wee hours of the wedding day itself. Omar had just finished attaching the handles and the i-cord edge, I was passed out on my parents couch clutching my aching hands after having knit most of the thing that night on a sort of uncooperative Denise needle.

I decided agianst the slip-stitch version because I hadn't packed my spare skein of the MC (cream) and I was worried about running out.

We delivered the basket at the rehersal breakfast the day of the wedding. Here you can see Old Towne Greenwood, one of those little shops in the background is a lovely yarn shop, Bo Peep. We had a nice chat with the owner a few days before. I love the blue sky and flag in the picture, it's so good to be a felted knit in America.

Here is the basket with the lovely flowergirl, the daughter of another high school friend.

Here it is with the red and deep red rose petals sitting at our table, which was positioned near the smarmy DJ and dancefloor.

Here is Omar and I before we arrived at the ceremony, which we almost missed. Oops. Can you tell we had knitting hangovers?

It was a lovely wedding, my friend looked beautiful and walked down the aisle with her precious 4 year old daughter. She is a chef, and she made many flavors of cheesecake and her boss made a ton of chocolate to go on every table.

Next up, continuing in reverse chronological order, I revisit the flubbed attempts at needle arts from my youth, get a lesson from my grandma, and discover some beautiful fiber art by women who died before I was born.
