black yarn and sunshine

Finally there was a sunny day where I remembered to charge the camera and attempt to photograph the elegance of the black pinwheel blankie.
Unfortunately, there was not a day when I could do so without a white cat who loves knits.
Mugshot:
MiMi's cleopatra eyeliner
So there was much shouting and cursing and urging Omar to call MiMi away while I attempted to take these pictures. This blanket is for a high school friend that I know wouldn't be into anything "cutesy." I can sort of respect that, although secretly I believe all babies should be wearing hats shaped like food items.

You can see the crochet edging, several rows of single crochet wrapped around some chained "nubbins."

goth baby pinwheel blankie

This was just really hard to photograph.
Project specs: Free Pattern
Flickr Pinwheel Group
Yarn: TLC Cotton Plus, 3 skeins
Diameter: about 32"
Needles: Three 24" circular bamboo 5s, some borrowed from Michelle

This needs to go in the mail before you-know-who plops her little white butt down on it.

I think it photographed very nicely! As does Mimi, as usual.

Actually very cool. Will appeal to the mother's hipster denial of cuteness--so uncute that it wraps back around the cute-o-meter to cuteness again.

that is great! i have yet to finish the edging on my pinwheel! lol.

and look! this bloglines stuff kicks 200 knids of ass!
thank you for 'splaning it in small words to me!

It's lovely! I haven't seen it in black before, but really love the effect.

Love the pinwheel blanket! It's the perfect gift for a stylish baby :)

It is simple and sophisticated. Plus, it's better than those pastel blankies becuase you can't see any stains on it! Really, you were being practical.
