black yarn and sunshine

Finally there was a sunny day where I remembered to charge the camera and attempt to photograph the elegance of the black pinwheel blankie.
Unfortunately, there was not a day when I could do so without a white cat who loves knits.
Mugshot:
MiMi's cleopatra eyeliner
So there was much shouting and cursing and urging Omar to call MiMi away while I attempted to take these pictures. This blanket is for a high school friend that I know wouldn't be into anything "cutesy." I can sort of respect that, although secretly I believe all babies should be wearing hats shaped like food items.

The artistic pinwheel shot
Pinwheel detail shot

You can see the crochet edging, several rows of single crochet wrapped around some chained "nubbins."

goth baby pinwheel blankie

This was just really hard to photograph.
Project specs: Free Pattern
Flickr Pinwheel Group
Yarn: TLC Cotton Plus, 3 skeins
Diameter: about 32"
Needles: Three 24" circular bamboo 5s, some borrowed from Michelle

This needs to go in the mail before you-know-who plops her little white butt down on it.

sockapaloooza crunch

sockapaloooza #1

This has been done for awhile, I gave up trying to get a good photo of the texture of the slip stitch, maybe I'll try again when the next one is done. I need to fix a tiny kitchner flub and well, knit the other sock.
We are just not doing so well with the photo-taking. I really need to photograph that baby blanket so I can send it, since the baby has undoubtedly been born (it's for an old high school friend I don't talk to much).

There are so many socks I want to knit, but I just need to focus on the mate for this one.

Stash Sale, Part 2

Hi everyone, I'm back with more to sell. I actually wrote up all these several weeks ago in painstaking detail and then my computer crashed and I lost it all, and I couldn't face doing it again until now.
We definitely having actual knitting to share, but things have been kind of crazy, with job searching, moving speculation and illness. I also need to figure out how to best photograph a 6'+ long scarf and a black baby blanket!
P.S. We are also redesigning the blog a bit, still in fallout from the MT upgrade. Be patient. But aren't the new colors good? :)
I am under some knitting deadlines now, I have to finish my sockapaloooza socks and get cracking on that felted basket for the May 19 wedding.
