the basket case
This is what I'm knitting for my friend's wedding in May! A basket for rose petals for the flower girl! I'm psyched.
Her dress is ivory. The bridesmaid's dresses are deep, deep red, almost black. They match the roses. The other flowers are white orchids with a lime green stripe and lime green bachelor buttons. So I'm going to make the basket in some combination of lime green, off white, and deep red. I am thinking I will choose two colors and use the third as an accent with satin ribbons. Let me know what you like best as a concept. These are not the exact colors, obviously.
I promise the colors will look good together. And the bow(s) will be smaller. I'm worried about the off white yarn felting. I've heard that it doesn't work so well, although I've sucessfully felted dyed Lion Brand fisherman's wool, but that is a very dirty natural color, I'd like something lighter. I'm thinking Knitpicks or Cascade 220.

I like the ones in the middle.

That name is all rhyming and stuff... woo, I'm woozy. I think I like the center color combination, but it'd be good to see the actual yarn colors.

This is really tough. The only combo I don't like is the red-basket-white-square-green-bow but even so, it might look fab made up so who knows? I am leaning towards the two on the lower right = white with lime squares or white with red squares.
I am no help, I know.

I've tried to visualize all of them, and I think I like either the one in the middle row, far right or the one on the bottom row, far right. I think the main part of the basket would look best in white/ cream, and I like the accents of the other colors.

careful if you use any sort of red and white (or ivory). Do a test swatch first to make sure the colors don't bleed. But I'm sure you knew that already ;-)

I've successfully felted Patons Classic in winter white.
I don't want to pick a basket color combo w/o knowing what color the flowergirl's dress will be. I think you should choose the combo that gives the most contrast to her dress. Oh, but I do prefer the 2 color combo over using all three.
Have fun - I love that basket.

What a grat way to be involved with a friend's wedding! I like the very last one, bottom right. Subtle but with fun accents.

I like the white with lime best, and the red only in the roses, not used in the basket. And I think this is a wonderful idea of yours (and a lot of tedious work... but hey).

I don't think you should use the rose-petal red for the basket. Maybe for the ribbon? I like the white w/green dots.
