Creelin' In The Years

CIMG2358.JPG
At long last, we've entered the home stretch on the Irish Creel pattern! It just sort of happened one Thursday in Watertown, I measured the strap and Holy Cow it was sixty inches! The applied i-cord turned out to be one more stitch than the pattern actually called for, but when I started it that Sunday in Somerville, I forgot the book. Still, that only leaves me with two i-cord button loops (and buttons) before this thing is totally done.

Still, the sixty inch cord isn't really enough for me to really sling it over my shoulder, and the six-stitch wide cabled cord seems a little flimsy at first glance. Still, until I get my act together about the embroidery, this might stand in as my "small project bag" until the sling bag is done.

This was my first foray into mattress stitch, and so I pretty much ended up winging it all the way around the edge. Still, I think it turned out alright.

And this, as usual, is my sorry attempts to photograph the stitch pattern and cabling. I feel I need a better lighting set up or something.
